Kenna Cowart

Kenna Cowart is a Nurse Practitioner providing Medical Express Care at Jordan Valley Health's Springfield: Tampa location. She brings a strong foundation of critical care nursing experience to her practice, having served as a Registered Nurse across some of the nation's leading medical centers. Most recently, she worked in the ICU float pool at Cox South Medical Center in Springfield, caring for patients in the neurotrauma, cardiovascular, medical, and coronary intensive care units, as well as stepdown and progressive care.

She began her career at Duke University Hospital in the Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit and transplant unit—serving patients undergoing liver, kidney, heart, lung, and pancreas transplants, where she also served as a preceptor and nurse educator for EKG, pacemaker, CRRT, ECMO, and the Code Team. She went on to specialized contract roles in intensive care at Vidant Medical Center (Neurosurgical ICU, Level 1 Trauma), Cleveland Clinic (where she helped create an IABP and Impella education program), and Emory Hospital (medical and surgical trauma ICU), building deep expertise in high-acuity, critical care settings.

McKenna earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Georgia College and State University, the top-ranked nursing school in Georgia, completing her practicum hours in the Surgical Trauma ICU. She completed her Master of Science in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner through Spring Arbor University, a Christian program designed for the working nurse, with clinical training spanning primary care, OBGYN, pediatrics, and functional/integrative health. Today, she draws on this exceptional clinical background to provide compassionate, high-quality care to patients in our community.
