Ashley Popejoy

Dr. Ashley Popejoy is the chief dental officer for Jordan Valley, where she loves being able to serve the community that she grew up in. Dr. Popejoy attended the University of Missouri-Kansas City where she graduated with her DDS and completed her certificate in Pediatric Dentistry from the University of Illinois-Chicago. Since 2014, Dr. Popejoy has worked for Jordan Valley Health.

Dr. Popejoy wanted to become a dentist because of her experience growing up. She grew up in a low-income household and was the first in her family to pursue higher education. While dentistry was not in her initial plan, she was drawn in by the blend of science, hands-on care, and the ability to make a tangible difference in someone's life. She wanted to be able to return to a community like her childhood community and serve them. She chose to specialize in pediatric dentistry because she wanted to care for children who may face barriers to access and opportunity. Dr. Popejoy believes every child deserves compassionate care, a positive dental experience, and the chance to build confidence in their health. Being able to support families and create a welcoming, accessible environment for kids is a privilege and a responsibility she carries with pride. Dr. Popejoy enjoys when her care helps a timid child leave their appointment happy and confident in their abilities to handle their dental care. She approaches care with an evidence-based approach. She practices in a judgement-free and compassionate manner. Dr. Popejoy aims to educate families about their overall health, not just their dental health.

Outside of work, Dr. Popejoy is involved with many organizations. She was the Clinical Director for the Special Olympics of Missouri, the Medicaid Spokesperson for the American Dental Association, the delegate to the House of Delegates for the Missouri Dental Association, and the president of the Greater Springfield Dental Society. In her free time, Dr. Popejoy loves running, reading, and listening to podcasts.
