About Amanda Derham

Amanda Derham is a behavioral health consultant at Jordan Valley's Grand clinic. She centers her work around the core values of social work, which allows her to provide the best care to her patients. Amanda graduated from Missouri State University with a master's degree in social work. During her undergrad, Amanda interned at the United States Attorney's Office as a Domestic Violence Unit Victim Advocate. Here she provided advocacy, therapeutic support, and referral services to victims and witnesses of domestic abuse. Amanda specializes in therapy for children, youth and families, the LGBTQIA+ population, and blended families.

Amanda became a provider because of the core values of social work, which include service, justice, and the dignity and worth of people. Her parents also largely influenced her career decision. They instilled in her the importance of human relationships and charity. Several of Amanda's earliest memories are of her parents serving in local civic organizations and supporting non-profits—so social work became the obvious career path for her. As a pediatric behavioral health provider, Amanda enjoys collaborating with the providers and Community Health Workers as well as others outside of the organization like family members, teachers, foster care case managers, and partnering agencies. Collaborating with these different groups helps Amanda provide the best care possible for her patients. Amanda's approach to patient care is rooted in integrity and collaboration. She believes that bringing in as many people as possible to work together to improve the lives of her younger patients.

Amanda has a long history of volunteering. Since her childhood, she could remember volunteering with her parents at local organizations like The Kitchen, Inc., Camp Fire Girls, the PTA, and the James River Basin Partnership. More recently, she was the founder and chair of GLSEN Springfield for five years. She also volunteered for the Springfield Symphony Guild and her son's Speech and Debate Booster Club. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, kayaking, and camping with her family.
