Alison Hood-Kirar

In Jordan Valley's Mobile Units, Dr. Hood-Kirar provides excellent optometry services to patients. Dr. Hood-Kirar graduated with her DO from the Illinois College of Optometry. For over 20 years, Dr. Hood-Kirar has been providing quality optometry care in the Southwest Missouri Region.

Dr. Hood-Kirar was inspired to become an optometrist because of her own personal struggle growing up with eye issues. When she grew up, she knew she wanted to give back and help people through similar struggles. The aspect of optometry that Dr. Hood-Kirar enjoys the most is the longevity of the relationships that she builds with patients. She enjoys being able to help them and see how their lives have changed with the treatment that she provides. Dr. Hood-Kirar aims to involve patients in the decision-making process when possible. She makes sure to discuss their treatment options and where they want to go from there. Dr. Hood-Kirar loves working at Jordan Valley because she feels like she gets to help patients and utilize many resources to provide the best care.

Giving back is incredibly important to Dr. Hood-Kirar. In her free time, she volunteers for the St. Jude Walk/Trike-a-Thon and has done so since 2014. These events aim to raise money for the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and help spread their mission of finding cures, saving children, and decreasing hospital bills for families.
