More than half of Missouri is considered a “maternity care desert,” according to the March of Dimes. The organization reports that 52% of the state falls into that category.
Dr. Elizabeth Harper Juanillo, an OBGYN physician at Jordan Valley Clinic, said the lack of access creates risks for mothers and babies.
