Why Choose Jordan Valley Community Health Center
In addition to the training opportunities and variety of experiences, there are many wonderful aspects to Jordan Valley.
At Jordan Valley Behavioral Health is seen as an integral part of healthcare and psychologists are a highly valued member of the multidisciplinary team. Additionally, the Department of Behavioral Health is a close-knit group of professionals that provide collegial support to each other. It is not just all work at Jordan Valley! Within the center, there are social activities such as a Halloween costume competition, holiday parties, chili cook-offs and summer activities to name a few.
Additionally, for interns interested in staying an extra year after internship, Jordan valley offers a formal Post-Doc. Within the state of Missouri, licensure requires 3,500 hours, at least 1,500 of which must come from the internship (which you will have 2,000) and an additional 2,000 of the 3,500 hours can come from pre-internship experiences, internship, or post-internship. This makes it much easier to gain licensure than other states if you have a large amount of pre-internship hours. However, if you don’t meet the 3,500 following completion of internship but are interested in the postdoc, you’d receive continued supervised training until licensure is obtained.
Another benefit is, because Jordan Valley is an FQHC and Springfield is considered a rural population, you would qualify for the federal education repayment assistance to supplement loan re-payment if you decided to stay in the area.
