Common Questions About Visiting the Eye Doctor

Eye doctors use dilation to help them see better into your eye and help discover any health issues that need to be addressed. Dilation happens when a drop is applied on the surface of your eye, causing your pupil to become larger.

It is good practice to visit your eye doctor at least once a year for eye exams and routine maintenance. Visiting your optometrist yearly helps you know if your prescription has changed and if your eyes are suffering from common vision illnesses.

Yes, Jordan Valley accepts Medicaid, Medicare and EyeMed for vision exams and Medicaid, Medicare and most private insurances for medical eye exams.

Eye doctors shine a light into your eyes to check the health of your eyes and also to assess brain health (if there has been brain damage, head trauma, stroke, or an injury).

Eye doctor appointments last anywhere from 30 minutes to 1 hour and half, depending on the busyness of the eye doctor’s schedule and the type of appointment you are visiting the eye doctor for.
